Plasa 2011 DiGiCo Joins The ASD As A Founding Corporate Member

The Association of Sound Designers (ASD) is a new body which represents the interests of those working in the UK theatre sound industry. It’s membership is not just limited to sound designers, however - it has been keen to involve representatives from all the key industry players. Naturally, DiGiCo is a founding corporate member.

The ASD is being launched at London’s PLASA show on 11th September and has over 60 of the UK’s foremost theatre sound designers on board. With its stated remit of connecting the widely dispersed sound design community, the promotion of high standards and education, having the highest profile manufacturers, rental companies and educational establishments involved is a very positive step, bringing a vast array of experience and expertise to the Association.

“We think that the ASD is a very constructive development for the theatre sound industry, which is why we have been happy to be involved from the start,” says DiGiCo marketing director David Webster. “Fostering closer links and constructive discussion between all those involved in the industry can only be beneficial.

“With new and emerging technologies continually changing the sound design landscape, we are looking forward to helping the ASD raise the profile and recognition of theatre sound as it continues to evolve.”
